Preemptive Retaliation

The site and blog of Joe Timms, writer.

Thirteen is a good number

My book sold thirteen copies! That’s more than I ever expected to sell, and I’m pretty chuffed that I have friends and family who care enough toe spend a few quid on me. A person has even leant it to someone else. Someone liked my book enough to lend it to someone else. My book is being passed to different people, thumbs wearing digital creases into the words.

There is still more to do. Social media, promos, review swaps… Self publishing is more work than advertised.

I am still very excited.

It has all got me more excited about writing in general, which is good. Yesterday I sat on a train and wrote little notes in my little notebook and started planning a story that has been bumping round my head for a few months now. At the same time I’m starting to think again on the NaNo I finished last year, and how I can develop that and where I can go with it.

I am very excited about a lot of things.

This is a book I’ve been reading recently: The Gracekeepers – Kirsty Logan

This is a good song I’ve been listening to lately: Blackout – Foreignfox
